If you are getting married for the second time, I highly recommend getting a prenuptial agreement, as you were likely unpleasantly surprised by how costly and stressful divorcing can be without one. It is a prudent strategy to discuss your financial plan and goals with your partner before marriage, and make sure you both are on the same page- and then legalize those goals and intentions in your pre-nup. I also believe it is valuable to have a consultation with a family law attorney before you get married for the first time, especially if there are premarital assets and inheritances you wish to keep as your separate property throughout the marriage.
