Litigation, by its nature, is adversarial; but, the attorneys are the stewards of civil discourse, charged with the duty of zealous advocacy, yet their demeanor should not be influenced by the emotional reactions of the client.

I strive to be a voice of reason, and to represent the best interests of all of my clients, even when they may manifest abject hatred towards the opposing side.

When your peer/adversary offers unsolicited recognition of this, you feel a modicum of success (especially when your client's best interest has indeed been served).
