Here’s my Secret …

I don’t have it all figured out but I’ve learned what really matters. 💛

It’s not better systems or more discipline that make it all work.

It’s knowing what actually belongs on my list, and letting go of the rest.

As working moms, balance doesn’t mean doing it all.
It means doing what matters, with grace and intention.
I’ve learned to say no without guilt, to stick to my calendar, and to treat family time like any other important appointment, because if I don’t schedule it, it slips away.

So here’s my tip: protect your peace and your people with the same energy you protect your work. Everything else will fall into place. ✨

And because yes! You can be a powerhouse and stylish while doing it all 🤍

Do you always need a hearing for visitation? 🤔
Not this time.

In Jodeci S. v. Sheila M., the court said the record spoke for itself — no need for another hearing when the child’s best interests were already clear.

✅ Custody changes usually require hearings.
❌ Interim visitation doesn’t always.

Sometimes, less court time means more family time. 💛

Sometimes the law is just as much about what’s missing as what’s written.

This week brought not one, but two reminders that knowing the nuances makes all the difference — from getting a petition dismissed in Westchester County to confirming (once again 😏) that hearings aren’t required for interim visitation when the record already speaks for itself.

As we’ve seen time and time again in SIJS cases, the power of a guardianship petition is undeniable. 💪 This recent decision is a win for all non-biological guardians who step up for kids in need. The Second Department just reaffirmed that any person can file a guardianship petition under SCPA 1703—no blood relation required. No more automatic dismissals without a hearing. 🙌 Reinstating petitions and reinforcing rights, one case at a time. Just another reminder of why we’re all in on guardianship petitions! 👏

Dear Family Court, when did seeking justice become a game of ‘Risk it or Leave it’? 🚨

The right to access the courts is fundamental, not conditional—especially when fear of removal (from the United States) is on the line. Let’s make sure fairness, not fear, is the rule of law. ⚖️✨

In the current political climate, I believe we need some guidance from our judicial leaders on how to counsel clients on the fear of appearing in court (do we ask for virtual proceedings?)

What and how to prepare your children if you are detained, and how to put your affairs in order should you no longer be in this country with your children
