The Newaygo County Sheriff’s Office Marine Division kicked off the boating season today with their regular scheduled patrols. We would like to introduce our Seasonal Staff (pictured left to right) as Deputy Zachary Vandam, Deputy Zachary King, Deputy Korey Sitzema, Deputy Michael Gilmurray, and Deputy Joshua Hansen. All five are current Criminal Justice students at Ferris State University, and have recently completed the Michigan Sheriff's Association Boaters Safety Academy.

The Marine Division operates on a grant from the Michigan Department of Natural Resources and funding from the County. The Marine Division is responsible for over 230 natural lakes and two waterways made by the backwaters of Hardy and Croton Dams.

Undersheriff Chad Palmiter oversees the Marine Division, and is available at 231-689-7303 for questions or comments regarding the Marine Division.
