Congratulations to the Newman Catholic February nomination for Yde Law Firm Student Athlete of the Month, Alexis Repinski!

Alexis is a senior captain and discus and shot-put thrower for the Newman Track and Field Team with a GPA of 3.3. She also participated in volleyball and wrestling with the Fighting Cardinals. Her biggest accomplishment for track and field is being able to continue her track and field career in college after all the hard work she has put in. Her biggest accomplishment in volleyball was returning to the lineup at the end of the season after suffering a serious injury before the season began. Academically, Alexis has made Honor Roll all 3 previous years of high school. In our community, she is a eucharistic minister and reads at church, shovels snow and rakes yards, and is involved in several school clubs involved with showing kids around the school and helping with mass. After graduation, she plans to attend Saint Mary's University in Minnesota to major in Psychology and minor in Criminal Justice to become a Forensic Psychologist. She will also be joining the track and field team. Alexis is the daughter of John and Rhonda Repinski.

Congratulations to the Wausau West February nominations for Yde Law Firm Student Athletes of the Month, Teagan Isham-Her and Brooke Schaefer!

Teagan is a senior shotput and discus thrower for the West Track and Field Team with a GPA of 3.3. He was also a team captain of the Warrior football team last fall. Specifically in football, Teagan has won the Brockmeyer Award as the most outstanding football player in the Wausau area, Channel 7 All-Star, and Wisconsin Valley Conference 1st Team All-Conference Honors. Academically, he has received Bronze Medals for his success in the classroom. Teagan volunteers his time in the community with Warrior Way, Wausau West Youth Football, Balloon Glow, Rib Fest, Wings Over Wausau, Warrior Power as a mentor for young weightlifters, among others. After graduation, he plans to attend the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point to pursue a degree in physical therapy/athletic training and play football and Track and Field. Teagan is the son of LeeAnn Isham-Her and Josh Her.

Brooke is a senior point guard for the West Girls Basketball Team with a GPA of 4.0. She is a 3-sport athlete who played Volleyball in the fall and is a captain for the Wolfpack Girls Lacrosse Team this spring. In basketball, Brooke has received Honorable Mention and 2nd Team All-Conference Honors. She has also received 9 total varsity letters and was voted Most Valuable Offensive Player on her team in Lacrosse. Academically, she has received the Academic Excellence Award with Highest Honors in 7 semesters, Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association 2023 Academic All-State recognition, and is a member of National Honor Society. In our community, Brooke volunteers for organizations and events such as Big Brothers, Big Sisters, Student Council, Link Crew Leader, blood drives, youth athletic camps, Warrior Ambassador Program, among others. After graduation, she plans to attend one of the 4-year universities she has been admitted studying Chemistry on a Pre-Medical track. Brooke is the daughter of Scott and Ericka Schaefer.

Congratulations to the D.C. Everest February nominations for Yde Law Firm Student Athletes of the Month, Nya Calhoun and Adam Swedlund!

Nya is a senior captain and pole vaulter for the Evergreen Track and Field Team with a GPA of 3.9. She is also Head Team Captain of the D.C. Everest Dance Team. Nya's athletic honors include receiving a Varsity Athletic Letter, 3-Sport Athlete Award, Two Golden Stars, and involvement in Leadership Counsel and Captain's Club. Academically, she is a member of the National Honor Society, has received Academic Letters and an Academic Honors Award, and has Dual Enrollment Credits in Current Events, Written Communications, Sociology, and German. Nya volunteers her time with her church Youth Group, tying blankets, handing out warm clothing to those in need, volunteering at Dance Team Regionals, and at soup kitchens and bake sales. After graduation, she plans to attend the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point to major in Sociology and double minor in Criminal Justice and Substance abuse. Nya is the daughter of Noah and Racquel Calhoun.

Adam is a senior captain, 200 Individual Medley, and 100 Breaststroke swimmer for the Evergreen Boys Swimming Team with a GPA of 3.9. He will also be participating in Tennis this spring. In Swimming, Adam has received 5 1st Team All-Conference, 1 2nd Team All-Conference, 3 Honorable Mention, and WISCA All-State Swimmer recognitions, is a 3x State Qualifier, was awarded Team Freshman of the Year, holds the 200 Medley Relay School, Conference, and Sectional Record, and placed 4th in the 200 Medley Relay at State. Academically, he has received 4 Academic Letters, will graduate Summa Cum Laude, is a member of the National Honor Society, and has received several other recognitions, such as WISCA Academic All-State, and 2021 PLTW IED Engineering Student of the Year. In the community, Adam has been involved in Sports Photography for D.C. Everest and Wausau Cyclones, Junior Achievement, Wausau Vintage Game Night, Woodson YMCA, WYNS Swim Team, Unified Pals, Green Bandana Club, and the Women's Shelter. After graduation, he plans to attend the University of Wisconsin-Stout to major in Computer and Electrical Engineering. Adam is the son of Margo Ivey and Tracy Swedlund.

Congratulations to the Wausau West January nominations for Yde Law Firm Student Athletes of the Month, Beckett Wieman and Julia DeByle!

Beckett is a senior right wing for the Wausau West Boys Hockey Team with a GPA of 3.941. He competes in tennis for the Warriors in the spring as well. Beckett has Varsity Letters in both sports. Academically, he has received 1 Bronze Medal, 5 Gold Medals, 2 Bar Awards, the Lamp of Learning, and is a member of the National Honor Society. In the community, Beckett has assisted Everest Optimist Club in a Bike Rodeo event, participated in Make a Difference Day, Skate with the Warriors, and Try Hockey for Free, and has volunteered to work concessions for several school events. After graduation, he plans to attend UW Madison to major in Biology. Beckett is the son of Marsha Meurette and Craig Wieman.

Julia is a senior captain and winger for the Central Wisconsin Storm Girls Hockey Team with a GPA of 3.0. She is a State Champion with the 2022 Central Wisconsin Storm Team and continues to be a valued member of the team that is hoping to qualify for State again this year. Academically, she is a member of the National Honor Society and is currently serving as the President. Julia has also donated her time in the community through Warrior WAY, Central Wisconsin Leadership Program Service Project, youth hockey clinics and camps, and as a Link Crew Leader. After graduation, she will be attending the University of Minnesota Twin Cities to study Neuroscience and pursue a pre-medical route. Julia is a daughter of Kim and Duke DeByle.

Congratulations to the D.C. Everest January nomination for Yde Law Firm Student Athlete of the Month, Megan Zemke!

Megan is a senior captain and post player for the Everest Girls Basketball Team with a GPA of 3.86. She's also a captain of the Track and Field Team, competing in the 100m hurdles, 300m hurdles, and long jump. In athletics, Megan is currently ranked 7th in the conference for rebounding in basketball. In track, she is a 2-time Conference, Regional, and Sectional Champion in the 100m hurdles, a 2-time State Participant in the 100m hurdles and long jump, and was voted most valuable to the track team her freshman year and most valuable field event athlete her junior year. Academically, Megan is a 2-year Academic Letter Recipient, has received WBCA Academic All-State honors, has completed numerous rigorous AP and other high-level courses, and is a member of the National Honor Society. In our community, she has donated her time for the Central Wisconsin Leadership Program, Youth Basketball camps, Peyton's Promise, Special Olympics, Mount Olive, Covenant Community Presbyterian Church, Kronenwetter Fire Department, and School Forest Leadership. After graduation, she is committed to UW La Crosse to run Track and Field and plans to major in Exercise Sports Science with the hope of becoming a Physical Therapist. Megan is the daughter of Rex and Patty Zemke.

Congratulations to the Newman Catholic January nominations for Yde Law Firm Student Athletes of the Month, Hanna Seidl and Aiden Spychalla!

Hanna (pictured) is a senior 300 hurdles, 100 hurdles, and pole vaulter for the Newman Track and Field Team in the spring with a GPA of 3.9. She was a valued member of the 2023 Marawood Conference Champion Newman Track and Field Team last year. Hanna has received Highest Honors recognition academically in 2021, 2022, and 2023, as well as holds the position of Secretary for the Newman National Honor Society. Hanna has donated her time in our community and other communities participating in two mission trips to Princeton, IL and Mission, SD, as well as is a Catechist at St. Matthews. After graduation, she plans to attend a 4-year university. Hanna is the daughter of Tina and Steve Seidl.

Aiden is a senior forward for the Newman Boys Basketball Team with a GPA of 3.383. He was also on the Newman Football Team in the fall. Aiden has received Second Team All-Conference Honors in basketball, varsity letters in both football and basketball, and was a member of the 2023 State Championship Newman Boys Basketball Team last year. Academically, he has received Honor Roll recognition. Aiden has served as a volunteer for Special Olympics Bowling, organizing and distributing food at Ruby's Pantry, leaf raking, youth football camps, youth basketball camps, and many other events and organizations. After graduation, he plans to attend college. Aiden is the son of Jennifer and Christopher Blashcka.

Congratulations to the Wausau East January nominations for Yde Law Firm Student Athletes of the Month, Jack Place and Sydney Crawford!

Jack is a senior captain for the East Boys Swimming Team with a GPA of 3.0. He competes in the 200 free, 500 free, 200 free relay, and 400 free relay events and is involved in trap shooting as well. Jack is a 4-year varsity letter winner for the swim team and has won the 500 free at the Menomonee Dual Swim Meet this year. In the community, he has spent time serving meals to the homeless in Wausau. After graduation, he plans to enter the workforce. Jack is the son of Andy and Amy Place.

Sydney is a senior captain and guard for the East Girls Basketball Team with a GPA of 3.521. She was also a member of the Lumberjack Girls Volleyball Team in the fall. Sydney has received honor roll recognition and has donated her time as part of Link Crew to assist incoming freshmen transition to high school. She is undecided as to her post High School plans. Sydney is the daughter of Chris and Jen Crawford.

Congratulations to the Newman December nomination for Yde Law Firm Student Athlete of the Month, Ashley Jankowski!

Ashley is a senior captain of the Newman Girls Basketball Team with a GPA of 3.9. She is also a member of the Newman Volleyball team and Softball team in the fall and spring. Ashley is a 4-year letter winner in basketball. In softball, she is a 2x 1st Team All-Conference nominee, voted Co-Defensive MVP by her team, and is a 3-year letter winner so far. Through Ashley's volleyball career, she has received Honorable Mention All-Conference, 2nd Team All-Conference, and Honorable Mention All-State Honors, while also twice being voted Most Improved Player by her team. Academically, she has received Highest Honors her Freshman, Sophomore, and Junior years, is a 2x Scholar Athlete Award recipient, and Triple Crown Award recipient. Ashley donates her time helping with school-affiliated youth camps, assisting with Special Olympics Bowling, and reads to children at St. Matts. After graduation, she is hoping to attend UW Madison for either nursing or pre-med. Ashley is the daughter of Steve and Joy Jankowski.

Congratulations to the Wausau West December nomination for Yde Law Firm Student Athlete of the Month, Kelly Kray!

Kelly is a senior captain and power forward for the West Girls Basketball Team with a GPA of 3.978. She played volleyball for the Warriors in the fall as well, where she was also a captain. In basketball, Kelly has averaged a double-double in points and rebounds both this season and last season, she received First Team All-Conference honors in the Wisconsin Valley Conference last season, and led the conference in rebounds per game. Academically, she has received Highest Academic Honors all 4 years of high school, received All-State Academic Honors during the basketball season last year, is a 2x State Competition Qualifier in DECA, and is a 3-year member of the National Honor Society. In the community, Kelly is a 4-year member and current President of Student Council, where she coordinates food drives for school and local food pantries, volunteers at school blood drives, and organizes and executes student-outreach projects. She also is an active participant in Warrior WAY, which focusses on improving the student experience and school culture, a Link Crew Leader, which provides leadership/mentorship to freshmen, and she is a Youth Girls Basketball Volunteer for youth camps and tournaments. After graduation, she plans to attend Grand Valley State University to play Division II Women's Basketball while pursuing a degree in Business/Marketing. Congratulations to the Wausau East December nominations for Yde Law Firm Student Athlete of the Month, Garrison Stockwell and Adriana Fisher!

Garrison is a senior and second-year team captain for the Wausau East Boys Wrestling Team, wrestling at the 165lb weight class, with a GPA of 3.38. Garrison is a 3-sport athlete, competing in football and track in the fall and spring. In wrestling, he has a record of 13-7 on the year, and 8-1 in his last 9 matches. He has also been a freestyle and greco State competitor. Academically, Garrison is a member of National Honor Society and National Society of High School Scholars, has competed at State in solo and ensemble for voice, theater, and orchestra, and has competed at DECA state as well. In the community, he is a certified youth wrestling coach, where he has coached matside at youth State, and Wausau Little League umpire. After graduation, he plans to attend college and study engineering. Garrison is the son of Gary and Melissa Stockwell.

Adriana is a senior captain and skip for the Wausau East Curling Team with a GPA of 3.69. She also plays soccer for the Lumberjacks in the spring. Adriana's numerous curling accomplishments include qualifying for the U18 Junior National Championships in Colorado where she took 4th place, placing as a 1st event runner-up at the Tietge Bonspiel in 2024, and placing as a 3rd event runner-up at the Tietge Bonspiel in 2023. Academically, she is a member of National Honor Society and is a Full IB Diploma Candidate. Adriana volunteers her time at the Wausau Curling Club and coaching soccer during the summer. After graduation, she plans to attend a 4-year university. Adriana is the daughter of Andrea and Scott Schafer.

Congratulations to the D.C. Everest High School December nominations for Yde Law Firm Student Athlete of the Month, Owen Soehl and Hailey Piskula!

Owen is a senior guard for the Everest Boys Basketball Team with a GPA of 3.7. He has been a valuable member of the team for quite some time now as a 3-year Varsity Letter Winner for the Evergreens. Academically, Owen has received the AP Scholar with Honor Award, is an Academic Letter recipient, a Badger State Boys Nominee/Attendee, received the WBCA Academic All-State Award, and is a member of the National Honor Society. In the community, he volunteers his time with Raise Your Voice Club for student mental health, youth basketball programs, and with the elderly community. After graduation, he plans to study Pre-Law and Political Science, but is undecided as to which college he wants to attend. Owen is the son of Michael Soehl and Sarah Trimmer.

Hailey is a senior forward and defenseman for the Central Wisconsin Storm Girls Hockey Team with a GPA of 4.0. She was also on the Everest Girls Volleyball Team as a freshman and sophomore. Hailey's athletic accomplishments including being a member of the 2022 Girls State Championship Central Wisconsin Storm team, as well as being a member of Captains Club. Academically, she is a member of the National Honor Society and is taking numerous rigorous AP courses and advanced classes. Hailey spends her time in the community volunteering at State Park Speedway, Try Hockey for Free, Jubilee House Food Preparation, Tie Blanket Making, and making Christmas packages for College Students. After graduation, she plans to attend a four-year university and major in a healthcare field. Hailey is the daughter of Todd and Brenda Piskula.

Congratulations to the Wausau West High School October nomination for Yde Law Firm Student Athlete of the Month, Victoria Myers!

Victoria is a senior and varsity cross country runner for the West Cross Country Team with a GPA of 3.5. She is also a captain on the Nordic Skiing Team and Mountain Biker. Victoria has received awards and acknowledgments in athletics, such as Junior National Skiier for the Great Lakes Division, achieved top 10 at Nordic Skiing State, was a Mountain Bike State participant in 2022, and was part of the Wausau West Cross Country State Qualifying team this fall. Academically, she is a 3-year academic letter recipient and National Honor Society member. In the Community, Victoria spends her time volunteering at a youth running camp, cleaning up trash in the community as part of Student Council, helping kids learn to ski as a Snow Strider mentor, and is active through other organizations helping the community, such as National Honor Society and Key Club. After graduation, she plans to attend UW-Green Bay to study Environmental Sciences with a focus in Botany, while also hopefully skiing there as well. Victoria is the daughter of Jason and Taneal Myers.
