Last week, I had the privilege of assisting a neighbor who wanted to get her affairs in order. She needed a Lady Bird Deed notarized and thoughtfully timed the appointment while her out-of-state guests—who would serve as witnesses—were visiting for the weekend.

As her notary, I ensured all signers presented valid state-issued ID and clearly explained each step of the notarization process. I took a moment to clarify that she, as the grantor, was signing the deed, and her witnesses were simply acknowledging they were present at the time of signing.
