I am against any further development of the downtown waterfront, and we especially don't need a "boat show like" view of the intercoastal year round. The City wants to allow an out of town developer (who does not live in West Palm Beach) to build a new marina stretching from Clematis Street south to Fern. And their decision was made without any public input. Additionally, the new Marina will, no doubt, need a parking lot (just like the current Palm Harbor Marina has), and a Marina office. In other words, the downtown waterfront as we know it will be gone, including the beautiful unobstructed view of the intercoastal. Before our City officials consider more development, perhaps they should focus their attention on more pressing problems, like the ever-increasing homeless situation downtown, the lack of public parking, the increase in parking meter fees, and traffic issues (including the Lakeview/Okeechobee corridor). If you are against any further downtown waterfront development, please sign the Downtown Neighborhood Association's petition.
