Below is my personal (Susan Brint) take away from the interesting Meet the Mayoral Candidates event sponsored by Pleasant Valley Civic Association.
Both Robert Parisi and Krakoviak 4 W.O. Mayor agreed that the development of this 120 acre tract is one of the Township's most difficult issues. Mr. Parisi reminded us that WO has fought hard since 1998 to prevent development beyond the 60-65 homes currently allowed. Both candidates agreed that WO will do everything within its limited power to minimize the damaging effects to the immediate area and Township in general. There was agreement that the over 700 unit development is poorly sited. Mr. Krakoviak pointed us to the elected officials on the state level and the Judges in the Supreme Court. We need to concentrate our efforts on our elected representatives Richard J. Codey, Mila Jasey, John F. McKeon. Unfortunately our elected representatives seem to be powerless against the unelected Fair Share Housing Center. The nobility of the Mt. Laurel rulings has over the years degenerated into one big mess for NJ's 565 municipalities.

Interesting article re dysfunctional “affordable” housing.

Why is so much luxury housing being built in cities where the need for low and middle-income housing is so great? One of the main reasons for this is the government's reliance on the market to create affordable housing.
