Today, Kathy Scanlon registered to complete the Pan-Mass Challenge (the “PMC”), a two day, 192 mile bike ride from Sturbridge to Provincetown on August 3 and 4 in support of cancer research at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute. Kathy, and all of the PMC riders, have committed to raise $5,000 to support cancer research. Dana Farber’s research and clinical trials benefit our region, including the patients treating at cancer centers throughout Connecticut that implement Dana Farber’s clinical trials and access its non-proprietary research.

Last year, the PMC raised $56 million for Dana Farber research, raising more money than any athletic fundraising event in the country.

We will be planning some great fundraising events in the coming months, and in the meantime, please check out Kathy’s PMC profile and consider supporting this important cause.

This year will be my fifth PMC ride. I'm a proud supporter of the PMC because it is leading a charge to beat cancer. In fact, last year 100% of rider-raised revenue went directly to support the Jimmy Fund and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute's tireless commitment to finding a cure.

This morning I registered for the Bloomin Metric Bicycle Ride on May 20th. This is a beautiful bike tour that begins in Sherwood Island State Park, with views of the Connecticut shore and rolling country roads. Five years ago, my partners Peter Vodola, Jim Reardon and I created a law firm that from the outset was competitive with the largest of firms, based on our national experience, as well as our agile and responsive platform.

While we were growing the firm, we also enjoyed the contribution of our friend and now former partner, Chris Barnes. Chris recently departed our firm to join United Healthcare. We wish Chris the best of luck in this next chapter of his career, and we are grateful for what he brought to our firm.

As part of Chris's move, we have restructured and are now a women-majority-owned enterprise. We are excited for the next five years!
