May is Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month. Here’s a brief timeline of how it came to be.

According to the Asian Pacific American Heritage Month website: ā€œThe month of May was chosen to commemorate the immigration of the first Japanese to the United States on May 7, 1843, and to mark the anniversary of the completion of the transcontinental railroad on May 10, 1869. The majority of the workers who laid the tracks were Chinese immigrants.ā€

Trusted Counsel for What Lies Ahead

My name is Dave Singh, and I am the Founder, CEO, and Principal Attorney of Singh Law Group P.C. | South Hills Estate Planning. Prior to starting my firm, I obtained B.A. degrees in Economics and Philosophy from Stanford University and my law degree from U.C. Hastings College of the Law in San Francisco.

I created my firm to meet the unique needs of families and closely-held businesses, and as you get to know us, you’ll see that our client service model is just as unique. But there’s more to us than what we do, and that is why we do it:

When I was a young child, my family lost our mother in a tragic accident. Years later, when I was an adolescent, we lost our father to a heart attack. What could have been a straightforward process of obtaining our family home and securing guardianship over our younger sister ended up being lengthy and costly -- and, with the proper legal advice, almost completely avoidable.

My ā€œwhyā€ is helping other families avoid the unnecessary nightmare my siblings and I went through by instilling connection, empathy, and humanity into a legal process that can feel cold and unfamiliar. It’s giving peace of mind to you, and ease of mind to your family, when the inevitable happens.
