There is an epidemic of in custody deaths across the country. When the government takes one’s liberty away, they are charged with that person’s safety while in custody. County of Orange had a duty to protect Mr. Pulido, and they failed. The entire time the brutal attack was going on, for over 4 minutes, no staff responded. When they finally did, there was absolutely no urgency in rendering life saving aid to Mr. Pulido, despite an obvious medical emergency. Mr. Pulido passed away 15 days after the brutal attack. We’re pursuing accountability so that change can be inspired within the OC Sheriff’s department, so that in the future, situations like this one could be prevented or mitigated.

Maxwell Aguirre was a 22-year-old veteran with a bright future and no criminal history prior to his stint at Twin Towers. Maxwell was dealing with mental health crises stemming in large part from his military experience. He had no mental health history prior to joining the military.

Maxwell unfortunately never got to see his day in court due to the deliberate indifference of Los Angeles County staff.

Los Angeles County jails have a long-standing culture of inhumanity, neglect, and abuse. If the County cared about inmate lives, then meaningful change would have been implemented 10 years ago when the US Department of Justice wrote a memorandum outlining the County’s failures to protect prisoners from harm, inadequate su***de prevention practices, and inadequate mental health services in violation of inmates’ civil rights. Instead, in the past ten years, with respect to mental health care and su***des, the problem has only gotten worse. There is an epidemic within the County jails.

On behalf of Maxwell’s parents Omar Aguirre and Yvette Aguirre, we bring this lawsuit to inspire meaningful and lasting change.

was Maxwell’s criminal defense attorney and is joining me in the civil battlefield against LA County. Maxwell had legal defenses and as a pretrial detainee maintained his presumption of innocence.

100k policy limits settlement. Sometimes, all you have to do is pick up the phone and explain what they have been missing. Maximum offer pre litigation was 10k. Less than 5k in medical bills. Big win for my client. I also appreciate working with reasonable defense attorneys like this one.

Trial day 1 - settlement at the courthouse steps! Juan was injured in a disputed liability semi-truck accident. It took years for the Defense to take responsibility for the spine injuries they caused. This 120k settlement is 4x the maximum offer earlier in this case. Before the lawsuit was filed, both defendants denied liability.

We are happy to announce a $300k settlement on a mTBI auto case involving an elderly woman. This result is more than 6x the pre-litigation final offer, and was reached after the deposition of our client’s neurologist, two neuropsychologist examinations, and mediation. Our client, thankfully, had a great outcome in her recovery, but the traumatic nature of the accident caused psychological injuries that lingered.
