Our busy three-attorney law firm is looking to hire an experienced legal secretary or experienced office assistant in our West Chester office. We are looking for someone to work part-time, approximately 20-30 hours per week in the office, preferably MWF. This is not a work from home position. The right individual will be detail-oriented, self-motivated and an enthusiastic multitasker with excellent organizational skills who takes pride in their work. This person should also be comfortable with computers (proficient in Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) and willing to learn legal software programs. Must have ability to not only work independently but also to be a part of our team to collectively be better and get things done. Perfect opportunity for a busy mother to re-enter the workforce. MUST send cover letter, resume and salary requirements for consideration to [email protected]. Thank you.

Hello friends and neighbors:
We hope you are all doing well during this crazy time. With many of us stuck at home, now is the perfect opportunity to either get or update your estate plan. If you send us a message, we will promptly e-mail you a questionnaire to fill out and return to us. After that, we will schedule a brief telephone conference or video chat, if you prefer. We will then forward you drafts for your review. The process will not take you long and almost everything can be done remotely! We should note that finalizing the documents does require a Notary Public and witnesses, but we can prepare everything up until that point now from the comfort of your home. Upon re-opening the office, we will work with you to schedule an appointment to come in and finalize your documents or we can mail them to you to execute with a Notary at your convenience!

Some of you may be thinking, “I don’t need an estate plan!” but you would be wrong. Everyone over the age of 18 should have a Living Will which allows healthcare providers to communicate with your chosen loved one. It also alleviates some of the pressure because your wishes, should you become incapacitated, are clearly written for your doctor, and not stuck on your loved one’s shoulders. In the event of incapacitation, who will pay your bills? What if that person is also incapacitated? Do you have a back up designated and is it documented in a legal form? If not, you need a Power of Attorney. Lastly, what happens if you should pass? Who will be the guardian of your minor children if your spouse has also passed or is incapacitated? This situation has caused many heartbroken families to have greater wounds from custody battles after a death occurs. You likely also wouldn’t want your 20 year old (or perhaps your 30 year old) to have access to a lump sum payout from all your assets following your passing. At the same time, the Secure Act has recently instituted laws which will greatly affect most American’s current retirement plans.
