There’s been a lot of movement in visa issuance worldwide. Recently, a court ruled that the government cannot enforce the 75‑country visa ban, meaning applicants from countries like Guatemala, Colombia, Somalia, and Nigeria should be able to move forward again.

Shortly after, the government announced a temporary pause on all visa issuance worldwide to provide additional training on new public‑charge rules. This pause is expected to last only through the end of August, with normal processing returning in September.

If you already have an interview scheduled, plan to attend unless the consulate contacts you to reschedule. And be prepared for extra scrutiny on public‑charge factors.
