Our thoughts and prayers are with all the victims of the Cobalt apartment fire today. Over 90 apartments loss in a horrific fire.

UPDATE: Pasco Sheriff’s Office is assisting Pasco County Fire Rescue with a structure fire in the Jermyn Loop area of Wesley Chapel.

The building was evacuated and no injuries have been reported at this time. The fire is believed to have started following a lightning strike, and does not appear to be criminal in nature.

Citizens are advised to remain clear of the area while PSO and PCFR work diligently to contain the fire.

“The popular Atlanta-based chicken chain claims an easement agreement in place since 2016 prohibits any restaurant that serves chicken as a primary menu item from specific outparcels within the shopping center, according to a complaint filed in Pasco County Circuit Court on June 26.”

Had the opportunity to attend Ben Crump’s book signing at Allen Temple AME Church in Tampa, and the room was filled with excellence.

Judges, attorneys, former GEBA presidents, business leaders, elected officials, and longtime community advocates gathered together—not just to celebrate a book, but to honor a legacy of leadership, advocacy, and service.

What stood out most was seeing so many trailblazers in one place, individuals who have helped shape Tampa’s legal, business, civic, and Black communities over decades. Events like this remind us of the power of relationships, mentorship, and collective action.

Thank you to Attorney Ben Crump for continuing to inspire the next generation to lead, serve, and fight for justice.

DEADLY TESLA CRASH IN WATERGRASS

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at approximately 8:10 p.m. on May 26. An 87-year-old Wesley Chapel man was driving a Tesla Model Y eastbound on Overpass Road while the vehicle was operating in autopilot mode.

Troopers said that east of Infinite Drive, the Tesla departed the roadway, struck an electrical box, and continued traveling until it entered a nearby pond and became submerged.

The driver was rescued and transported to an area hospital, where he later died from injuries sustained in the crash.

Our condolences to the family for this terrible loss.
