August is national “Make-a-Will” month. According to Gallop, only 46% of Americans have a will. This is a great time to remind you of the importance of having one in place.
Having a will allows you, not state laws, to appoint a personal representative to take care of your estate after you pass. It also allows you to set who receives your assets (beneficiaries), who takes care of your minor children (guardian), and potentially who is in charge of handling your minor children’s money (trustee of a testamentary trust).
Getting estate planning documents in place can feel overwhelming, but it can be even more overwhelming for your loved ones to deal with your affairs when no planning was done.
McKenney Law Office can help walk you through the process and answer any questions before you begin. Since our estate planning is done on a flat fee basis, you know how much everything will cost before signing a fee agreement.
Please feel free to call (402-525-9935) or email ([email protected]) to get information about getting a will and/or other estate planning documents in place.
