When we moved here from LA, one of the hardest adjustments was how much smaller everything felt.

I was used to always having somewhere to go.
Something happening.
More options than I could ever need.

So yes…I genuinely thought I was going to be bored here.

And sometimes? I still am. 😂

But nights like this have made me appreciate something I didn’t really understand before.

You don’t always need a huge city and 500 different options.

Sometimes you just need good friends, your kids running around, music playing outside…and the ability to be home ten minutes later.

I’m still not giving Wisconsin winters any compliments.

But summer nights in Waukesha County?

Okay, Wisconsin. I’ll give you this one.

When we moved to Wisconsin from out of state, I thought finding the right house would be the hardest part.

It wasn’t.

The hardest part was figuring out where we wanted to build our life.

Every town in Waukesha County has a different feel. Some are quiet and tucked away. Some are full of parks and walking trails. Others have a busy downtown, easy access to shopping, or a shorter commute.
The house you buy is important.
But the town you choose is where your kids will make friends, where you’ll grab coffee on Saturday mornings, where you’ll take evening walks, and where you’ll build your everyday life.

That’s why I always tell my relocation buyers to fall in love with the town first. The right house will come.

I thought that too.

When my family moved to Wisconsin from out of state, I wasn't just looking for the right number of bedrooms or the perfect kitchen. I was wondering what our everyday life would actually look like.

Would my kids make friends?
�Would I like the neighborhood?
�How far would everything really be?
�Would this place feel like home a year from now?

Those were the questions that mattered the most.

A house can always be updated. But you can't change the neighborhood, your commute, or the way a town feels when you drive through it.

That's why I always tell my relocation buyers to spend time learning the area before falling in love with a house. Drive through the neighborhoods. Visit the parks. Grab coffee. Go to the grocery store. Imagine your everyday life there.

Our Saturday looked like this. ❤️

We packed up the kids and took a little drive to Shalom Wildlife Zoo, only about 40 minutes from Brookfield, and it ended up being such a fun family day.

Watching my son and daughter get excited over every animal, feeding them, and just spending the day together reminded me that sometimes the best memories are the simplest ones.

One of my favorite things about living in Waukesha County is that there are so many places like this just a short drive away. It’s one of those things you don’t always think about when you’re moving here, but it becomes such a big part of everyday life.
