Another day, another dismissal!

My juvenile client had been charged with assault on a WMATA police officer. After our firm’s clerks carefully reviewed all of the body-worn camera and CCTV footage, we determined that WMATA had no lawful justification for the arrest. The footage showed that officers first put their hands on my client without cause and even attempted to choke this young person.

Thankfully, the Government ultimately agreed. Instead of being detained today, my client is going home free.

We are very proud of our co-managing partner, Caitlyn Greene, for winning a juvenile probable cause hearing last week!

Probable cause hearings are more difficult for defense attorneys to win than trials as the standard of proof is far lower for the Government to prevail. Great job Caitlyn!

A graduate of the Washington College of Law, Caitlyn previously served as a law clerk at the firm for two years, and most recently, clerked for the Hon. Andrea L. Hertzfeld. She brings a passionate commitment and extensive experience in criminal defense. Caitlyn will serve on the D.C. Juvenile Delinquency Panel, the Mental Health Panel, and the Post-Commitment Panel. Today, I experienced a highlight of my legal career.

Our law firm won a Motion for Review securing our client’s freedom from Saint Elizabeths Hospital after being wrongfully detained for nearly two years.

Many thanks to my superstar team who has worked tirelessly to fight for this client as well as so many others in both our juvenile delinquency practice as well as civil commitment practice.
