As we close out Military Appreciation Month, we recognize our own Robin Becker. A decorated veteran of the United States Army and Air Force, Robin served in combat during Operation Iraqi Freedom and earned numerous awards, distinctions and commendations. These days, Robin continues to serve in a different way, advocating for service members and veterans in their pursuit of justice.

Chris Nace enjoyed attending the Council for Court Excellence’s Mayoral and Congressional Candidate Forums. A lot of changes are coming to DC politics in the next few months, and Chris wanted to hear directly from the candidates who want to lead this city. These forums put public safety, reentry, the courts, and youth justice front and center. Advocacy and understanding is an important part of protecting our clients.

A construction worker is dead — and it's the second serious accident this year at the same job site. Jorge Eliud Galindo Thompson fell 20 feet from an overpass at Miami's $840 million Signature Bridge project in the early hours of Monday morning and was pronounced dead at the scene. Just three months earlier, six workers were thrown roughly 30 feet when a beam toppled, leaving five in critical condition. OSHA is now investigating. When construction workers go to work, they deserve to come home. Construction site accidents don't just happen — they are the result of failures: failures in oversight, failures in safety protocols, and failures in accountability.
