An unreliable paycheck isn’t the only concern on the minds of those families right now. With a 20 percent unemployment rate among military spouses and one in five service members reporting food insecurity even prior to the shutdown, many military-connected families rely on different federal benefits to make ends meet - benefits like SNAP, WIC, tuition assistance, and others that are now in jeopardy.
