The Office of Management and Budget (OMB) has released its long-awaited changes to the Uniform Administrative Requirements, Cost Principles and Audit Requirements for Federal Awards (Uniform Guidance) Final Rule. These revisions intend to make the application process for receiving federal funds easier for eligible recipients as well as clarify language in certain parts of the Uniform Grants Guidance. OMB requires federal agencies to implement these updates by October 1, 2024.

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Office of Inspector General (OIG) reported that HRSA miscalculated and incorrectly distributed its Phase 2 payments of the Provider Relief Fund (PRF) Program. Per HHS OIG’s estimates, over $159 million in potential overpayments were issued under HRSA’s Phase 2 General Distribution of PRF.

The US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) announced its highly-anticipated changes to 42 CFR Part 2 (“Part 2”) for Substance Use Disorder (SUD) patient records. The Final Rule improves Part 2 alignment with the HIPAA Privacy, Breach Notification, and Enforcement Rules and addresses coordination with SUD providers, patient privacy protections and more.
