Epsilon Sigma Iota Sorority, Inc. Epsilon Sigma Iota, incorporated in 1921, was founded for social and educational purposes, and to in McNeil, Zephyr Abigail Moore, and Gladys Tignor Peterson.

Epsilon Sigma Iota Sorority, Incorporated (ESI) was founded on November 4, 1920 and incorporated on June 17, 1921 at Howard University School of Law. The founding women of excellence were Pearl Beldon, Willie Hazel Blount, Ollie May Cooper, Margaret DuBose, May Corinne Martin, Bertha C. The organization was chartered with a threefold purpose. First, the sorority was to serve as a tool to motivate

women to become lawyers. Second, it was to serve as a conduit to placing female Howard Law graduates in meaningful legal careers. Finally, it was to create a useful network of female graduates.

Last but certainly not least, our next graduating Lily is Nomphumelelo Mikela Mtetwa, J.D.!

Nomphumelelo Mikela Mtetwa, J.D. has distinguished herself at HUSL through leadership, advocacy, and excellence in intellectual property law. Throughout her time at Howard University School of Law, Mikela served as both Treasurer and President of Epsilon Sigma Iota Sorority, Inc., helping strengthen sisterhood, leadership, and community among the Lilies.

Mikela also demonstrated a strong commitment to advocacy as a member of the Charles Hamilton Houston Moot Court Team from 2024–2026, where she competed in the International Trademark Association’s Saul Lefkowitz Moot Court Competition, earning Best Brief and Second Place Team honors. In recognition of her academic excellence, she also received a CALI Award in Intellectual Property/Patent Clinic I during Spring 2025, reflecting outstanding achievement in intellectual property law.

Throughout law school, Mikela gained extensive hands-on experience in intellectual property and litigation. As a Student Attorney in both the Intellectual Property Trademark and Patent Clinics, she worked with clients on trademark applications, patent prosecution, prior art searches, and USPTO filings, gaining valuable experience in protecting innovation and creative works. Professionally, Mikela built a strong foundation in private practice through multiple summer associate experiences with Balch & Bingham LLP and later Alston & Bird in Atlanta, Georgia.

Following graduation, Mikela will begin her legal career in the Litigation & Trial Practice Group at Alston & Bird in Atlanta, Georgia. Looking ahead, she is excited to leverage her HUSL training and passion for intellectual property law to advocate for artists, creatives, inventors, and small businesses, particularly within the Black community. Through her work, Mikela hopes to help close the racial wealth gap by expanding equitable access to legal protection and opportunity.

Our next graduating Lily is Chayse Williams!

Chayse Williams, J.D. has made a meaningful impact at HUSL through leadership, advocacy, and academic excellence. Throughout her time at Howard University School of Law, Chayse demonstrated a strong commitment to student leadership and community, serving as Vice President of the Student Bar Association during the 2024–2025 academic year, where she helped support student engagement and advocacy across the HUSL community.

Within Epsilon Sigma Iota Sorority, Inc., Chayse served as Alumnae Liaison, helping strengthen relationships between past and present members while fostering connection and legacy among the Lilies.

Academically, Chayse distinguished herself through excellence in the classroom, earning two CALI Awards in recognition of outstanding academic achievement. She also sharpened her advocacy skills through Trial Advocacy, further strengthening her courtroom and litigation experience.

Following the Bar Exam, Chayse will begin her legal career with Constangy, Brooks, Smith & Prophete, LLP, where she will practice Labor & Employment Law.

Our next graduating Lily is India Woods!

India Woods, J.D. has made a meaningful impact at HUSL through leadership, scholarship, and professional growth. Throughout her time at Howard University School of Law, India remained committed to building both her legal skills and her community. Within Epsilon Sigma Iota Sorority, Inc., she served as Social Media Co-Chair and Treasurer, helping strengthen sisterhood, engagement, and organizational success among the Lilies.

Academically, India served as a Research Assistant for Professor Rogers during Spring 2026, supporting legal scholarship and research. Professionally, India began working with in-house counsel at Events DC during her 1L summer and continued through graduation, gaining valuable hands-on experience in legal operations and in-house practice.
Following the D.C. Bar Exam, India will continue her journey with Events DC as a Law Clerk, building upon the strong foundation she developed during law school.

Our next graduating Lily is Alexis Marie Jackson!

Alexis Marie Jackson, J.D. has left a lasting impact on HUSL through leadership, service, advocacy, faith, and sisterhood. During her time at HUSL, Alexis served as Public Relations Chair of Epsilon Sigma Iota Sorority, Inc., helping strengthen engagement among the Lilies, and as Music Director of the HUSL Gospel Choir, after first serving as Soprano Section Leader during her 2L year.

Across campus, Alexis remained deeply involved in student leadership and public interest initiatives. She served as Marketing Chair and later Social Media & Marketing Chair for the Howard Public Interest Law Society, Social Media Chair for the Student Bar Association, and Director of Social Media for the Class of 2027 Orientation Committee, helping welcome incoming students to the HUSL community.

In recognition of her leadership, service, and commitment to advocacy, Alexis was awarded the Centennial George E.C. Hayes Scholarship by the The Washington Bar Association, Inc., recognizing law students committed to advancing equal justice through leadership and community impact.

Throughout law school, Alexis gained experience across advocacy and public service spaces, serving as a Law Clerk in the Juvenile Division of the Maryland Office of the Public Defender, a Legal Intern with the Advocates for Trans Equality (A4TE), and a Student Assistant in the Howard University School of Law Office of Student Affairs, where she helped manage The Brief, HUSL’s weekly internal newsletter.

Following the Maryland Bar Exam, Alexis will begin her legal career as a Law Clerk with Contact Government Services, supporting litigation work with the federal government. She hopes to eventually transition into the publishing industry, combining her love of books with the law.

Trinity Gore, J.D., M.B.A. has distinguished herself at HUSL through leadership, advocacy, and sisterhood. As a member of the joint J.D./M.B.A. Program, Trinity has demonstrated a strong commitment to excellence both inside and outside the classroom while preparing to lead at the intersection of law and business.

Throughout her time at Howard University School of Law, Trinity served as Membership Intake Chair for Epsilon Sigma Iota Sorority, Inc., helping cultivate sisterhood, leadership, and legacy among the Lilies. Through her leadership, Trinity played an instrumental role in strengthening the sorority’s continued growth and impact within the HUSL community.

Trinity has also been a dedicated advocate through her involvement with the Huver I. Brown Trial Advocacy Moot Court Team, where she served as Co-Captain, sharpening her litigation and courtroom advocacy skills while helping lead one of HUSL’s premier trial teams.

In recognition of her academic achievement and promise within the legal profession, Trinity was selected as a recipient of the Benjamin F. Wilson/Beveridge & Diamond Scholarship, an honor recognizing future legal leaders committed to excellence and service.

Following graduation, Trinity plans to pursue a career as a trial attorney in Chicago, Illinois, where she hopes to build a dynamic career rooted in advocacy, leadership, and impact.

Our next graduating Lily is Savannah Mangram!

Savannah Mangram, J.D. has distinguished herself at HUSL through scholarship, leadership, advocacy, and service. As a Merit Scholar, Savannah consistently demonstrated a commitment to excellence both inside and outside of the classroom. During her time at Howard University School of Law, she served as 2L Class President and held multiple leadership roles within the Student Bar Association, serving as Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility Chair during the 2024–2025 academic year and later as Chief of Staff for the 2025–2026 academic year.

Savannah also served as Secretary of Epsilon Sigma Iota Sorority, Inc. during the 2025–2026 academic year and as Co-Captain of the Charles Hamilton Houston National Moot Court Team, helping lead one of HUSL’s premier advocacy programs. In addition, she served as a Student Attorney in the Criminal Justice Clinic, strengthening her commitment to justice and advocacy through hands-on legal experience.

Outside of the classroom, Savannah served as a Head Student Representative for BARBRI, supporting fellow law students as they prepared for success beyond graduation.

Our next graduating Lily is Regina Shaw!

Regina Shaw, J.D. has made a meaningful impact at HUSL through leadership, advocacy, and excellence in intellectual property law. Throughout her time at Howard University School of Law, Regina served as Vice President of Epsilon Sigma Iota Sorority, Inc. and previously as Community Service Co-Chair, helping foster sisterhood, service, and leadership among the Lilies.

Regina has been actively involved in advocacy and intellectual property spaces across HUSL. She has been an active member of the Charles Hamilton Houston Moot Court Team, the Intellectual Property Trademark Clinic, and the Fashion Law Society, demonstrating her passion for advocacy and innovation at the intersection of law and creativity.

In recognition of her academic excellence, Regina earned a CALI Award in Intellectual Property Trademark Clinic I, reflecting outstanding achievement in the classroom. She also distinguished herself nationally through advocacy competitions, earning Second Place Overall and Best Brief at the INTA Saul Lefkowitz Moot Court Regional Competition, followed by Third Place Overall and Second Best Brief at the INTA Saul Lefkowitz Moot Court National Competition.

This past summer, Regina participated in the Gate City Bar Summer Associate Program and interned with the Davis Bozeman Law Firm in Atlanta, gaining valuable legal experience while continuing to strengthen her advocacy skills.

Beyond her legal pursuits, Regina is also an entrepreneur and the owner of Buttercup Butters, her business specializing in organic, handmade body butter, reflecting her creativity and commitment to wellness.

Our next graduating Lily is Oreoluwa Adewale!

Oreoluwa Adewale J.D. (she/her) made a lasting impact on HUSL through leadership, scholarship, and service throughout her time in law school. During her final year, Oreoluwa served as Membership Intake Coordinator (MIC) for Epsilon Sigma Iota Sorority, Inc., making history alongside Trinity as the first team to bring in two tables and three honorary members in one year. She also served as a Research & Teaching Assistant for Director Alicia Jones, a student employee at the Vernon E. Jordan Law Library, and a Student Attorney in the Estate Planning & Heirs’ Property Clinic.

This past year, Oreoluwa also presented at a congressional briefing on Section 2 of the 14th Amendment alongside classmates in Professor Sherrilyn Ifill’s Reimagining American Democracy: The 14th Amendment course, contributing to important conversations on democracy and constitutional accountability.

During her 2L year, Oreoluwa served as 1L Coordinator of the Black Law Students Association, Membership Chair of the Fashion Law Society, and Sisterhood Co-Chair of Epsilon Sigma Iota Sorority, Inc. She was also a Student Attorney in both the Movement Lawyering Clinic and the IP Patent Clinic. In addition, Oreoluwa presented her paper on Black maternal mortality at Judge Brewer’s Black Women & the Law conference.

During her 1L summer, Oreoluwa worked as a research intern with the NAACP Legal Defense Fund, further strengthening her commitment to advocacy and justice.

Following graduation, Oreoluwa plans to celebrate with a sunny bar trip before beginning the next chapter of her legal career. She hopes to work in-house for a retailer or fashion company while also continuing her passion for estate planning to help the Black community build and sustain generational legacies.

Our next graduating Lily is Desiree Lynn Parker!

Desiree Lynn Parker (she/her) has made a meaningful impact at HUSL through leadership, scholarship, and service. Desiree currently serves as Vice President and founding member of Blessed Bisons, Associate Solicitations & Submissions Editor for the Howard Law Journal, Internal Affairs Coordinator for the Atypical Law Students’ Organization, Research Assistant to Professor McDougall, and Student Attorney in the Movement Lawyering Clinic. She also previously served as National Chapter Delegate for Epsilon Sigma Iota Sorority, Inc.

A trailblazer in global legal education, Desiree was the only HBCU student to complete the Center for Transnational Legal Studies program in London during Fall 2025, gaining an international perspective on legal systems and transnational advocacy.

Following graduation, Desiree will begin her career as an incoming bankruptcy attorney at Sidley Austin in Chicago. Looking ahead, she hopes to combine her legal expertise with her passion for the arts by becoming an advocate in the art, gallery, and museum law spaces.

Our first graduating lily is Jordan Dawson!

Jordan Dawson (she/hers) currently serves a President of the Intellectual Property Student Association, Treasurer for 3L Class Council, and the student affairs chair for SBA Cabinet. She is also research assistant for Professor Lateef Mtima. She also served as the first HUSL judicial extern at the United States International Trade Commission with Chief Administrative Law Judge Cheney.

Previously, she spent her 2L year as a Student Attorney with IP Patent Clinic I & II. She was also Vice Orientation Chair, Vice President for IPSA, Vice President for Phi Alpha Delta Law Fraternity, HUSL ambassador member of The Giles S. Rich American Inn of Court, Criminal Law I TA for Professor Murphy, treasurer for 2L Class Council, eboard member of Blessed Bison, Student Employee for the Office of Career Services, secretary for Epsilon Sigma Iota Sorority Inc., and selected as the awardee of the 2025 HBCU IP Law & Tech Award for Outstanding Achievement in IP Social Justice. During her 2L summer, Jordan used her award grant to prepare for, register, and sit for the Patent Registration Examination (Patent Bar).

During her 1L summer, Jordan was a legal intern for the FCBA where she published an article following Supreme Court IP cases on appeal at the Supreme Court and attending congressional hearings regarding Third-party litigation. She also reactivated Phi Alpha Delta Law, Fraternity with some of her classmates and inducted new members 1L spring. Jordan also won the SBA 1L of the year award.

Following graduation Jordan will be a law clerk. Jordan wants to use her background as an engineer to help underrepresented communities get more access to the patent system through prosecution and litigation in specialized courts. She is interested in eventually running for US Senate for the State of North Carolina or US House of Representatives for the state North Carolina.
