Are you facing criminal charges for the first time? ⚖️👨‍⚖️

Depending on your charges, criminal history, and the specific facts of your case, certain first-offender programs may be offered to you.

These programs usually allow your charges to be lowered or dismissed after completing the program.

First time offender programs are not automatic. Every case is unique; which is why it's important to speak with an experienced criminal defense attorney to determine whether you qualify and what options are available to you.

Watch this video to learn more about the two most common types of first time offender programs.

💬 If you or someone you know has been charged with a crime in Washington, DC, feel free to give me a call. I'd be happy to discuss your options with you. 📞 (202) 221 2013.

🚨🚔 Imagine being arrested by the police, and you’re searched immediately after the arrest. Are the police allowed to search you in this way under the law?

This video is part of "The Fourth Amendment Explained" series, where I break down your constitutional rights in simple, easy-to-understand concepts.

In today’s video, I will discuss the principle of a “search incident to an arrest.” You will learn:

⚖️ When the police can conduct a search incident to an arrest

🧾 Why officers are generally allowed to search the area within your immediate reach or control immediately after the arrest; and

✔️ Why officers cannot search the contents of your phone or go beyond the scope of a search incident to arrest without a warrant

When law enforcement officers respond to a domestic violence dispute, they may have to arrest you if they believe you committed a crime. This applies even if the alleged victim does not want to press charges.

Once an arrest is made, a prosecutor has to decide if formal charges will be filed in court. What most people don’t realize is that even if the prosecutor decides to dismiss the charges in court, you will still have an arrest record.

That is why it is important to take the additional steps to clear your domestic violence arrest record to make sure you are not missing out on potential jobs or other important opportunities.

💬 If you or someone you know is involved in a domestic violence matter in DC ,feel free to give me a call. I’d be happy to talk with you and walk you through your rights and options. 📞(202) 221-2013
