Germania's legal fight for its Real Property Tax Law Section 420-a property tax exemption continues after the Appellate Division reversed an initial victory won against the Town of Poughkeepsie.

Lead attorney Karen Hagstrom, Partner of Stenger, Glass, Hagstrom, Lindars & Iuele LLP, has teamed up with Professor Dennis Fan and students from the Columbia Law School Appellate Litigation Clinic. Joining the case pro bono as co-counsel, the expanded legal team has filed a motion to reargue and is fully prepared to appeal directly to the New York Court of Appeals if necessary.

The Columbia team even visited Germania in January to experience its cultural heritage firsthand alongside Hagstrom over a traditional German meal.

Ken Stenger, a local attorney and Partner at Stenger, Glass, Hagstrom, Lindars & Iuele LLP, is at the center of the ongoing debate over proposed improvements at the Old Rhinebeck
Aerodrome in Red Hook.

Representing neighbors concerned about zoning and community impact, Stenger argues there are legal grounds to challenge the aerodrome's expansion plans.

“The aerodrome is a cultural icon in that town”, Stenger said.

Discussion and debate continue as the town reviews the aerodrome's master plan and considers community input.

The next public hearing is set for August 3 and will include a revised Environmental Assessment framework and Master Plan from the aerodrome.
