The break room is a great place to get a lunch recommendation.

It is not the best place to decide whether you have a workers’ compensation claim.

Coworkers often mean well, but their advice is usually based on what happened to them, someone they know, or something they heard years ago. Your injury, job, employer, medical history, and claim are different.

At Brady & Associates, we take the time to understand what actually happened, explain your rights in plain English, and help you make decisions based on the facts of your case.

When your health and paycheck are at stake, you deserve more than workplace hearsay.

You can’t rely on advice you get in the breakroom because every workers’ comp case is different.

✔️ The Kind Of Work You Do
A knee injury won’t keep you from working if you sit at a desk. But if your job is climbing ladders, driving a truck, or standing all day, it could keep you from working.

✔️ How The Injury Happened
One hard fall, a box that’s too heavy to lift, and months of repeated strain shouldn’t be handled the same way.

✔️ What The Medical Records Say
Your treatment, restrictions, prior injuries, imaging, and doctor’s opinions all affect how the claim is viewed.

✔️ What You Said Early On
Texts, emails, incident reports, and conversations with your employer will matter later, so take care with what you say about your injury.

✔️ What Benefits Are Accessible
Beyond Workers’ Comp, FMLA, PFML, MassHealth, COBRA, and Social Security Disability, benefits could be available to you.

✔️ The Insurance Company’s Angle
One person’s claim may be accepted right away. Another person may be told the injury was pre-existing, not work-related, reported too late, or not serious enough.

That is why advice from someone else’s case only goes so far.

They may be trying to help, but your case needs to be looked at on its own facts.

Before you follow your coworker, cousin, or Google’s advice, talk to someone who handles workers’ compensation cases.

After you get hurt at work, you’re going to hear a lot of opinions and unsolicited advice.

People mean well, but unless they went to law school, I would thank them and call someone who did.

Our firm’s been helping people for 4 decades.

We know every injury claim is different, and missing one shift is different from being out for months.

Before you make decisions based on someone else’s experience, remember that their injury, their job, and their case are not the same as yours.

Good food, local vendors, and live music are all reasons to connect with your community tomorrow.

That’s what the Walpole Farmers Market brings to Spring Brook Park every Saturday morning, with local farmers and bakers, handmade goods, and plenty to browse.

The market runs Saturdays from 9 AM to 1 PM through October 17 at 938 East Street in Walpole.

At Brady Law, we love seeing local events that give people a reason to get out and support small businesses. If you see us there, be sure to say “hello!”

If you are looking for something local to do this weekend, the Walpole Farmers Market is worth a visit.

After you get hurt at work, you might just be trying to keep your job, calm things down, and avoid making trouble.

But quick messages can come back later in a way you didn’t mean.

Even a short text to your boss can make an injury sound smaller than it was.

You don’t need to panic over every word. If you got hurt, say what happened, what hurts, that you’re getting checked out, and you’ll update them when you know more.

Simple. Clear. No guessing. No pretending you are fine.

Save this or send it to someone dealing with a work injury.

After you’re hurt on the job, your first instinct is probably to let the company know, so you text the boss something like:

“I’ll rest for a day or two. It’s probably not serious.”

Text messages can be used later to make it look like you weren’t seriously hurt, even if you didn’t know how bad it was or were trying to be cool about it.

I get it. You’re a hard worker, and you’re trying to be a good employee.

I’d understand if you’re worried about being labeled a troublemaker and end up getting replaced.
But your pain can get bad fast in those first few days.

What if your doctor says your tests indicate you can’t come back to work anytime soon, or you’ll have to be on reduced duty?

I’ve seen it happen so many times in my work.

So be careful about what you say or promise, because your own words can be used against your claim later.

A career-ending work injury raises a lot of questions about what life looks like now.

Creating a winning legal strategy should not be your job, even if you have access to AI.

At Brady Law, we don’t expect clients to know all the questions they need to ask before they call.

That’s our job.

If you were seriously hurt at work and you are trying to figure out benefits, bills, and what comes next, give us a call.

Workers’ comp is supposed to help you get back to work, but often getting paid doesn’t happen fast enough to keep up with real life.

👉 Missed Paychecks
A missed check affects your whole household. How will you handle groceries, rent, utilities, car payments, prescriptions, childcare, and tough conversations?

👉 Health Insurance
You’ll need to know what will happen to your health coverage. In Massachusetts, ask if you're eligible for COBRA continuation coverage or MassHealth.

👉 Other Benefits
Here are some of the lesser-known options we look into for our clients:

▪️ Temporary Total Disability or Temporary Partial Disability benefits under Massachusetts workers’ compensation law

▪️ Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) is for serious disabilities that are expected to keep someone from working for at least 12 months.

▪️ Paid Family and Medical Leave (PFML) in certain situations, depending on eligibility and how it interacts with workers’ comp

If the checks have stopped or you are worried they might, talk to someone who understands how all these pieces fit together.

And if you found this helpful, save this or send it to someone who’s hurt, out of work, and out of options.

Getting hurt at work is scary enough.

Then the checks stop coming, and now you’re worrying about more than how you’ll get better.

In my experience, workers’ comp is just one kind of compensation you may need and be entitled to.

You may qualify for temporary benefits like unemployment, welfare, and longer-term support like Social Security Disability.

A good workers’ comp lawyer will be familiar with all your options.

When you’re picking someone to represent you, be sure to ask what other programs you might qualify for. If they don’t know…move on to the next consultation.

The hardest part of being badly hurt at work isn’t always the injury.

It is trying to process the loss of a role, a routine, or a career you cared deeply about.

At Brady Law, we know these workers’ compensation cases affect your identity, confidence, and peace of mind.

That’s why our firm and our staff are so proud of the feedback we get from clients.

If you’re hurt, living in Massachusetts, and trying to figure out what to do next, give us a call.
