The General Assembly just acted to allow a driver's license expiring after July 1, 2025 to remain valid up to two years after expiration, for purposes of maintaining the license holder’s driving privilege. Session Law 2025-47 (DOT Omnibus bill). The purpose limitation, solely for driving privileges, does not allow the use of an otherwise expired driver's license for use as identification (e.g., by notaries).
