Job Title: Senior Litigation Paralegal
Location: Waco, Texas
Firm: Pakis, Giotes, Burleson & Deaconson, P.C.
Position Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Litigation Paralegal to support attorneys in complex civil litigation matters throughout Texas in both state and federal courts. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience managing cases from pre-suit through trial, with a strong working knowledge of Texas Rules of Civil Procedure, Texas Rules of Evidence, and local court practices. This position involves work in Personal Injury, Intellectual Property, Construction Law, Will Contests/probate litigation, and both plaintiff and defense matters.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide advanced litigation support in complex cases from intake through trial and post-judgment
- Draft and assist with pleadings, motions, discovery, and correspondence in compliance with Texas Rules of Civil Procedure
- Manage written discovery, including Requests for Disclosure, Interrogatories, Requests for Production, and Requests for Admission
- Coordinate and prepare for depositions, mediations, hearings, and trials in Texas courts
- Handle Texas e-filing (eFileTexas) and ensure compliance with filing deadlines and local rules
- Maintain litigation calendars, docket control, and statutory deadlines
- Assist with expert designation, discovery deadlines, and pretrial disclosures
- Organize and manage large document productions and exhibits
- Prepare trial binders, exhibit lists, witness lists, and assist with courtroom support
- Communicate professionally with clients, opposing counsel, court staff, and experts
Qualifications
- 5+ years of Texas litigation paralegal experience, with senior-level responsibilities
- Substantial experience in complex civil litigation, including Personal Injury and Probate/Will Contests
- Experience supporting both plaintiff and defense cases in Texas courts
- Strong knowledge of Texas Rules of Civil Procedure, Texas Rules of Evidence, and Texas discovery practice
- Familiarity with Texas state courts and federal courts
- Excellent organizational, drafting, and communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Adobe and Excel
- Ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines independently
Preferred Qualifications
- Trial preparation and in-court support experience
- Proficiency with legal case management and document management systems
- Paralegal certification or equivalent experience
