Finally! Congress passed the PACT and the Camp Lejeune Justice act addressing and providing a means to receive reddress for their losses and injuries as a result of the Camp Lejeune Toxic water . (Aided by a sit in by veterans and their family, organized by Jon Steward).

I have been in contact with the veterans and their families I have worked with for over twenty years,and we are refiling their claims!

Justice at last!!

Over 28 years later, the Department of the Navy quietly denied all camp lejeune toxic water claims. Another gross failure to take care of our veterans.

As my clients and friends know, the Supreme court in Waldburger v. CTS reluctantly upheld the recently discovered 10 year statute of repose in North Carolina. Although none of the supreme court members, myself, nor any of my colleagues had ever heard of that word, it means that regardless of when the wrongdoing was discovered, the wrongdoers ability to be sued is cut off after 10 years. The North Carolina legislature went in on urgent session and tried to do a legislative "fix". So now there are other federal AND state cases up on appeal to see if the law can be retroactively changed/cancelled OR if it applies to Federal Tort Claims such as the Camp Lejeune Toxic Water cases.

Meanwhile, the CDC /ATSDR studies keep showing causation in more and more detail.

Finally, although Congress ordered, the President signed, and the V.A. was ordered to provide compensation and/or care, THEY ARE NOT in most cases. I know a retired Major whose claim has been going on for 8 years. INHUMANE and NOT HOW WE SHOULD TAKE CARE OF OUR VETERANS.

The Supreme Court heard oral arguments of Waldburger v. CTS Corporation yesterday. Will have a huge impact on all future environmental contamination cases, including all the Camp Lejeune Toxic Water Victims.

For those of you victimized by medical malpractice, and victimized again by California's "monetary cap" on general damages (even in a death case) to $ 250,000 plus out of pocket economic loss, the Consumer Advocate Group is once again trying to sponsor a bill to have the cap re-adjusted for inflation. The law was passed nearly 40 years ago, and at today's value is $ 73,000.

The Supreme Court is going to be hearing arguments for two major same s*x rights cases shortly. They will hear the Prop 8 case out of California, and the D.O.M.A. cases.

Interesting that President Clinton and several Republican Senators are backing basic civil rights by speaking out in favor of same s*x civil benefits.
