Legal Document Assistants cannot give you any legal advice or tell you which documents you need to have prepared based on your situation, that information can only come from either an attorney or an agency such as the Family Law Facilitator's Office or the Self-Help Resource Center or even Central California Legal Services.

Legal Document Assistants can only help individuals that have not already hired an attorney. Legal Document Assistants cannot help prepare any of your legal documents if you have an attorney representing you,unless your attorney specifically requests we do so on their behalf.

If you want to file something with the court and you have an attorney, you will need to contact your attorney to request a document be prepared on your behalf by them and filed with the court.

Legal Document Assistants are not Paralegals. A paralegal is a legal assistant who is directly supervised by an attorney and works for that attorney. A legal document assistant is an independent legal document preparer. We are registered, licensed, bonded and insured. We are not supervised by an attorney; however, we are required to continue our education by studying the law and providing proof of our continuing education to the county in which we're registered. Regardless of whether or not we know the answer to your legal question, we CANNOT give you legal advice. All legal questions will need to be directed to an attorney.

Property Deed recording fees have increased by an additional $75 for all California residents.
