Memorial Day has always felt different to me.

Before real estate, before any title I hold professionally, I am a military spouse first... and over the years, I’ve learned that this day carries a weight many people thankfully never have to fully understand.

I know most people mean well. I truly do. But Memorial Day is not simply a long weekend, a sale, or a marketing opportunity.

It is not “Happy Memorial Day.”

It is folded flags handed to grieving families.
It is teammates mourning teammates.
It is empty seats at tables.
It is stories that stop too soon.
It is the quiet ache carried by Gold Star families, military communities, and those who have lost brothers and sisters in arms.

I have watched some of the strongest warfighters hold back tears over friends they still miss years later.
I have seen the pain that this weekend can bring back to the surface.

For many military families, this day is deeply personal. It is not centered around celebration, but around remembrance, reflection, and honoring those who never made it home.

While I understand this weekend marks the unofficial start of summer, and that is something worth enjoying with the people we love, the holiday itself should stand for what it truly is:

A day to honor the reality that while all gave some, some gave all.

As we enjoy the freedoms gifted to us by those who never made it home, I hope we also pause to remember the true meaning of this day and the incredible sacrifice behind it.

To the fallen: we remember you.
To the families left behind: we remember with you.

Forever grateful. Never forgotten.

She listened to our concerns and priorities and immediately sent us valuable resources and information. Allison is incredibly knowledgeable and professional and was in constant communication with us during the process. I cannot imagine having to do this without her. She made the entire experience so smooth and pleasant. This area is incredibly tough for rentals due to military turnover, but Allison made all the difference for us. She is absolutely fantastic!
