A fish that keeps his mouth shut never gets a hook in it! If you are stopped by the police for DUI or for any reason remember, you are required to identify yourself, BUT, you are not required to give them any further information, particularly incriminating information! You don’t have to admit you’ve been drinking or tell them how much. You do not have to tell them you have something illegal in the car and you don’t have to give them permission to search. The police will pressure you in several ways telling if you don’t tell them it will go harder on you. They will tell you they just want to help you out. They will tell you lots of things. Be polite and DO NOT RESIST THEM! Let your lawyer fight them in court, but don’t believe the police are trying to help you, they want to arrest you and they are trying to get you to make it easy for them. Don’t swallow that hook!

DUI prevent defense! As a DUI attorney I have seen it all. I am not suggesting you should drink and drive but if you do don’t put a target on your back. Many times people get stopped for simple equipment violations. Headlight, tail light, license plate light, running a red light or stop sign or just plain speeding. Regardless of DUI prevention check your car once a month for lights out and use common sense about speeding and traffic control devices all the time but particularly if you have been drinking. Remember, if you don’t get stopped you won’t get arrested. If you do get arrested call me.
