USCIS has completed the FY 2027 H 1B cap registration selection. H-1B cap-subject petitions, including those petitions eligible for the advanced degree exemption, may be filed with USCIS beginning April 1, 2026.

U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services has received enough electronic registrations for unique beneficiaries during the initial registration period to reach the fiscal year 2027 H-1B numerical allocations (known as the H-1B cap), including the advanced degree exemption (master’s cap).

The Department of State announced expanding online presence review to A-3, C-3 (domestic worker), G-5, H-3, H-4 dependents of H-3, K-1, K-2, K-3, Q, R-1, R-2, S, T, and U visa applicants, effective March 30, 2026. H-1B applicants and their dependents and F, M, and J applicants are already subject to this review. DOS instructs applicants to set their social media profiles to “public” or “open.”

The Department of State has released the April 2026 Visa Bulletin, bringing positive developments as several categories show forward movement. Most notably, the Dates for Filing in the EB-3 Professional and Skilled Worker category will become current for all countries except China, India, and the Philippines.

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is publishing a final rule that will increase USCIS fees for premium processing to reflect the amount of inflation from June 2023 through June 2025.

H-1B electronic registration: The initial registration period for the FY2027 H-1B cap remains open at USCIS through March 19, 2026. The fee for registration is $215 per beneficiary.
Key changes for FY2027 H 1B cap filings include a shift to wage-weighted selection instead of a random lottery, requiring detailed registration with SOC codes and wage levels.

If you are a prospective petitioner (also known as a registrant) seeking to file H-1B cap-subject petitions, including for beneficiaries eligible for the advanced degree exemption, you must first electronically register and pay the associated H-1B registration fee for each prospective beneficiary.

USCIS announced today that H-1B cap initial registration period for the FY2027 will be open from March 4, 2026, through March 19, 2026. The announcement provides information on the registration process, the new weighted selection process, and the $100,000 H-1B fee.

U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services announced that the initial registration period for the fiscal year (FY) 2027 H-1B cap will open at noon Eastern on March 4 and run through noon Eastern on March 19, 2026.
