Estate Planning (Wills, Trusts, Power of Attorney, Elder Law) & Probate. It's important to get your affairs in order because we never know... It's especially important for parents with minor children: Who will take care of your kids? We can also create a trust that will control how your assets will be distributed to your kids (including life insurance proceeds).
If you don't have life insurance, get some!! I have a policy & I don't even have a family. It's cheaper than you might think...
Clients who take care of these matters are always relieved. Also, Estate Planning isn't reserved for the wealthy. Elder Law (i.e. advanced Estate Planning) is becoming increasingly popular as nursing home expenses continue to rise. There are methods to protect your assets.
I'm also experienced in the following areas of law (among others):
Family Law, including Divorce, Custody, Orders of Protection, and Adoption. I pride myself on efficiently resolving these matters, as opposed to dragging them out... This includes being honest with my clients about their likelihood of success.
Criminal Defense. I worked as a conflicts public defender for several years, handling many cases. I've also been retained privately. I've enjoyed practicing in this area.
Civil Litigation - I've handled small claims to multi-million dollar lawsuits. I have fewer resources to handle a major lawsuit now that I'm in my own office, but I would still be willing to talk to you to see what I could do, even if it means an outside referral. I can at least provide guidance.
Business Formation - I studied this area quite a bit in law school. I currently represent several area businesses. I can assist you with incorporation/formation and provide continuing counsel.
Tax Law - This was my specialization in law school. I was admitted to the top national programs for a Tax LLM (Masters of Law), but I decided not to attend. I love this area of law. It overlaps some with Estate Planning.
