NYS DMV changes effective 11/6/24 now change the lookback period to 24 months for points to accumulate on your license. The # of points for many common VTL offenses have increased. There is also now a mandatory assessment when a motorist accumulates 6 or more points on your license.

NYS DOT has installed cameras on certain work vehicles that act as License Plate Readers issuing NOTICES OF VIOLATION for anyone caught speeding in a construction work zone.
The VIOLATION notice does not carry points but the fines like anything else in NYS can add up.

Ma*****na legal in NY. Not always.

If you consume ma*****na in a car (driver or passenger) it's a traffic infraction. Car parked on a public street, still a traffic infraction.

Take that same ma*****na cigarette and step out of the car - perfectly legal.

Driving while impaired by cannibis (or cannibis and alcohol) is a
Class A misdemeanor.

Effective November 1st - in NYS, rear passengers over age 16 must wear seat belt. Summonses can be issued to passenger and to the driver (including points for the driver). This law
applies to UBER and car services also.
