1. “Property prices are expensive.”
They can be. But honestly, if you compare Vail to a lot of desirable cities people already live in or want to move to, the prices can feel pretty equivalent. The difference is… this is also a world class ski resort with mountains, trails, rivers, skiing, biking, and views outside your window. And yes, there are still properties under $1M throughout the valley.
2. “Mud season is gross.”
Okay first of all 😂 people hear “mud season” and think the entire valley turns into one giant swamp. It’s mostly the hiking trails during snowmelt. Not the roads. Not the towns. Not your whole life. Honestly, mud season can actually be peaceful around here.
3. “The altitude and dry air are brutal.”
The dry skin part is real. I came from Atlanta humidity, so trust me, I noticed it immediately. But I learned pretty quickly… Aquaphor over my normal skincare at night and tons of water. Problem solved. Now I barely think about it.
4. “The traffic from Denver is terrible.”
It can be on weekends and holidays coming up from Denver. But once you actually live in the Vail Valley? You’re not really dealing with that traffic much unless you’re heading to Denver. Your normal day to day life up here is very different.
5. “It’s too quiet.”
Honestly… this one was real for me at first. When you leave a big city, you realize how much background noise you were constantly living with. Here, there’s more silence, more stillness, and yeah… you can get in your head a little more sometimes. But eventually, that quiet starts feeling pretty peaceful.
