Beckett Law Office, P.C., will cease operations as an active law firm effective December 31, 2022.

Chad Beckett takes office as Circuit Judge on December 5, 2022. He will be in charge of the family docket.

Andrew Bequette will begin a new chapter at Tummelson Bryan and Knox of 115 N Broadway Avenue in Urbana starting January 1, 2023. He will continue as the attorney for municiplaities in Douglas and Moultrie Counties and will have office space for part of the week in the City of Tuscola.

Andrew Hall has returned to his native upstate New York home and is serving as a state prosecutor.

Audrey Thompson is enjoying being a new mother and is considering a variety of future prospects (details to come soon).

Steve Beckett has incorporated a new firm, to be known as Steve Beckett Law Office, LLC, which will initially operate in the same Urbana office as this firm at 508 S Broadway Avenue in Urbana starting January 1, 2023. He will continue to operate a general practice.

If our firm is currently storing your original estate planning documents, please contact us if you would like to retrieve them. In the alternative, they will be stored at Steve Beckett Law Office.

Our attorneys look forward to our respective new experiences with the law and to continue to serve the people of our community.

The Chief Judge of the Sixth Circuit has ordered the cancellation of most hearings in Champaign, DeWitt, Douglas, Macon, Moultrie and Piatt County Court through April 10th (which means Court *may* resume Monday April 13th). We have attached the order below.

If you have a court hearing scheduled in one of these counties, please contact your attorney (or the circuit clerk of that court if you are unrepresented) for more details. We will be contacting our clients through the week with updates.

COVID-19 RESPONSE: Please feel free to share!

Beckett Law Office, P.C., responding to recommendations from state and local health officials, is modifying the way we deliver our services to the public.

First, I want to assure everyone that 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗼𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗲𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗨𝗿𝗯𝗮𝗻𝗮 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗧𝘂𝘀𝗰𝗼𝗹𝗮 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗮𝗶𝗻 𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗻 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗯𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 at our regular hours of 8:00 am - 12:00 pm and 1 pm - 5 pm Monday through Friday.

If special arrangements are necessary for a client to have a face to face meeting, your attorney will speak with you about that. Any documents that need to be delivered can be placed in our secure box at the entrance to the Urbana office or in the breezeway of our Tuscola Office.

We understand that this change will cause inconvenience to our clients. Please know that we are taking this action out of concern for the health and safety of our staff, for our clients and for the visitors to our office. 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝗮𝗳𝗲𝘁𝘆 𝗶𝘀 𝗼𝘂𝗿 #𝟭 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗿𝗻.

A few more thoughts and answers to potential questions as a result of this policy change:

1. We are a paperless office, equipped to accept any documents that you need to turn into the office via email and can save the same via our electronic filing system. As such, no physical paper needs to be exchanged unless absolutely necessary. If you have to execute a document in the presence of a notary and can print and scan your executed document from a remote location, we encourage you to do so at this time. In addition, you can always use the U.S. mail to send your documents to our offices or use the secure drop box at Urbana.

2. New and potential clients: All consultations will be conducted telephone or video conference. Please call the office to set an appointment.

3. To pay your invoice, please continue to mail it to us using the return envelope provided, or by dropping it off to the secure deposit box at the entrance to our Urbana office. Also, you are welcome to make a credit card payment online by going to the following website:

We do appreciate our clients continuing to pay your invoices so we can continue to provide you with legal services.

4. If you have a court date that does NOT require you to be present, or you have been notified of that already, please stay home.
