8 things I wish homeowners knew before we start demo 👇🏾

1️⃣ Permits protect YOU. No permit = no inspection backup, and insurance may not cover it.

2️⃣ Order windows FIRST. Standard’s 6-8 weeks, custom up to 16. Don’t let them hold up the job.

3️⃣ Never demo on a promise. Cabinets need to be in your garage before we tear anything out.

4️⃣ “Opening up the kitchen” = HVAC, electrical, AND new beams. Budget for all of it.

5️⃣ Moving plumbing is never small. That vanity shift means opening walls and floor joists.

6️⃣ Ripping out tile takes the drywall too. Plan for new drywall behind new tile.

7️⃣ You can’t match 20-year-old hardwood. Refinish the whole floor — trust me.

8️⃣ Fancy paint won’t fix rushed prep. Prep beats brand every time.

I almost didn’t post this. 😅

Watching myself back felt so awkward. But the message matters more than my comfort… so here it is.

For years I thought being strong meant doing it all myself. I was wrong. Everything I’ve built, I built WITH my husband, right beside me, every step. The businesses. The home. This whole life. 🤍

He’s my motivation, not my competition. We’re not racing each other… we’re building the same thing, together.

That’s not dependence. That’s two people building something that can actually hold weight.

To every woman who feels behind, too old, or “not independent enough” because she leans on her partner… or those who still long for a partner to take some of the weight off, this is for you.
