Hundreds of laws take effect in California in 2026. Take a look at some that may affect your life-Part 1️⃣:
-A ban on all plastic bags.♻️
-Minimum wage increases to $16.90 in CA. LA County and other CA cities, fast food workers, and healthcare workers continue to earn more than the state minimum. 💰
-Food delivery services must provide a full refund if an order is not delivered or is wrong, including live customer service.🚗
-Beginning July 2026, streaming services are not allowed to play ads with a louder volume than the show being watched.📺
-Law allows a customer to return a used vehicle within 3 days and requires dealers to disclose the full price of the vehicle and bans unwanted junk products that increase the price.🚙
-Folic acid will be added to store bought corn tortillas to try and prevent birth defects.🫓🌽
-Beginning July 2026, restaurants with 20 or more locations will have to list major food allergens as ingredients on each menu item. 🥜
-Beginning July 2026, required standard terminology in food date labeling. “Sell by” is prohibited and replaced with “Best if Used by” or “Use of freeze by.”
-Larger insurers must cap out-of-pocket insulin cost to $35 for a 30-day supply. 💉
-Large employer health plans must cover infertility diagnosis and treatment, including IVF, for all individuals.
-Cat declawing is banned.🐈
-Pet sellers of dogs, cats, and rabbits must disclose their health history and origin. Prohibits non-refundable deposits.🐩
-By August 2026, the California AI Transparency Act will require content platforms to provide watermarks or other tools to detect AI generated content.🗯️
-Chatbot operators must notify users believed to be minors that they are interacting with AI. These operators must also prevent talk of su***de or self-harm, and by July 2026, file an annual report on conversations that included su***de ideations.🔔
