Ambition is a wonderful thing. I believe in working hard, setting goals, and being proud of what you accomplish. But I also believe we have to leave room to enjoy the life we're working so hard to build.

There will always be another case, another deadline, another opportunity, and another thing that needs our attention. If we're not intentional, it's easy to keep pushing the things that matter most to the bottom of the list.

Success isn't just about what we accomplish professionally. It's also about having time for the people we love, the things that bring us joy, and the moments we will remember long after the work is done.

A full calendar isn't necessarily a full life. Make sure there's room for both.

A new episode of More Than a Lawyer is here!

I really enjoyed sitting down with Jason Imler, a plaintiff-side employment lawyer from Tampa, for this episode. One of the things I love most about these conversations is getting to know lawyers who practice in different areas and communities while discovering how much we actually have in common.

Jason and I talked about what it means to stand up for the “little guy,” both in and out of the courtroom. That is something I connect with deeply as a trial lawyer. At the end of the day, our job is about helping people navigate difficult situations and making sure they have someone willing to stand in their corner.

We also talked about employment law, leadership, community involvement, and the lessons we learn outside of the courtroom that make us better lawyers inside it.

I hope you’ll join us for the conversation!

Some of the best parts of a conference aren't on the agenda.

Of course, I always look forward to the presentations and the opportunity to learn, but I also value the conversations that happen between sessions, over dinner, or simply sitting next to someone new.

Over the years, some of the most valuable relationships I've built in this profession started with a simple conversation at a conference.

So here's my advice the next time you're attending one: don't just go to the conference. Go meet people.

Sit with someone you don't know. Introduce yourself. Ask questions. Exchange information. And, most importantly, follow up when the conference is over.

You never know when a five minute conversation might turn into a friendship, a mentorship, a new opportunity, or a relationship that lasts for years.

As summer comes to an end and school starts back, it can feel like everyone is shifting back into a faster pace. Vacations are winding down, schedules are filling up, and we're getting back to work.

But busy seasons are often when we need breaks the most.

Stepping away doesn't mean you're falling behind. Sometimes taking an afternoon off, spending time with your family, getting outside, or simply giving yourself a little space to breathe is exactly what you need to come back with a clearer mind and renewed energy.

We don't have to wait for life to slow down before we make time to recharge. Sometimes we have to be intentional about creating those moments ourselves.

As we head into another busy season, don't forget to leave a little room for rest.

Success isn’t always loud.

Sometimes success looks like helping someone through a difficult season. Sometimes it looks like encouraging a young lawyer, learning something new, or making time for the people who matter most.

Sometimes, it’s simply ending the day knowing you gave your best to the work and the people who were counting on you.

Of course, there are big wins worth celebrating, and I’ve been fortunate to have many of them throughout my career. But I’ve also learned that some of the most meaningful measures of success don’t come with an award, a verdict, or a headline.

Success can be quiet. It can be personal. And it can look different in every season of life.

The older I get, the more I believe that a successful career isn’t just about what you accomplish. It’s also about the people you help, the relationships you build, and the life you’re building along the way.

We live in a culture that can make being busy feel like something to be proud of. We wear exhaustion as a badge of honor and sometimes convince ourselves that rest is something we have to earn.

I’ve learned that rest isn’t a reward for reaching your limit. It’s part of taking care of yourself so you can continue showing up fully for your work, your family, and the people who depend on you.

Making time to rest isn’t stepping away from your goals. It’s part of making sure you have the energy to keep pursuing them.

I've learned that one of the greatest investments you can make in your career is in the people around you.

The cases will come and go. The conferences will end. But the relationships you build with mentors, colleagues, clients, and friends, are what make this profession so rewarding.

Take the time to encourage someone, make an introduction, or simply check in with a colleague. Those small moments often leave the biggest impact.

There are few people who make a bigger impact on our communities than our teachers.

I had the opportunity to help deliver Amazon gift cards to the incredible teachers of the Bullock County School System on behalf of the 9A Collective as they prepare to kick off a new school year.

Teaching is a calling, and we’re grateful for the dedication, patience, and care these educators pour into our children every single day.

To all of the teachers beginning a new school year: thank you for investing in the next generation. Wishing you a wonderful year ahead!

Jinks Crow, PC was proud to be a sponsor of an event that helps local students and families prepare for a successful school year. It’s always rewarding to see our community come together to support one another, and I’m grateful to have been a part of it.
