🥰 One of my favorite things about January is the fresh start it gives me to decorate. I usually put away my staple decor for my Christmas setup. But then when I put up Christmas I get to decide what to put back out and I get to redecorate in a new way, sometimes using my “old stuff.”
Before I became a real estate agent, Greg and I raised a large family on a single income. I learned to be very resourceful. I loved shopping the sales circulars and cooked what was on sale. And I loved decorating but didn’t have the cash to just hire a decorator so I shopped resale and thrift shops and decorated my whole house.
It was by necessity back then, but today I love that many of my belongings have a story and that they can’t be bought on Amazon.
With this past year of inflation and Greg and I putting our money into the renovation of a house, I’ve employed my skill of “being frugal” and have shopped sales. And I’ve learned to “make do” and to be content.
I’d be lying if I didn’t add that I’ve enjoyed it a little bit. God blesses my heart when I’m a good steward of what He provides. There’s this wonderful feeling I get when I’m cooking meals from scratch and creating rather than consuming. Maybe I’m an “odd duck” or maybe you can relate.
But over these “cold days,” I want to bake, have Greg build a big fire, be creative with what’s already in my freezer or pantry, be creative with my”stuff” and maybe even play games with my kids. 🥰
