This week I have been in federal court representing a long time friend of mine. In 2021 on my birthday I got a call saying he had been brutally assaulted by prison guards. Following that beating he was denied access to quality care upon returning from UAB.

Today, 8 men and women saw through the personally irrelevant attacks and agreed with us. They rendered a verdict in his favor for both compensatory and punitive damages for a six figure amount. Pretty sure there will be appeals, however, for today we celebrate! We celebrate the win, but more importantly I celebrate a renewed faith in people because today 8 people said the life of a someone incarcerated still matters and it is not ok to treat them any kind of way!
