Social work interns Haley Jackson and Ragan Hope-Wilson represented the UA Law Clinical Programs today at the Camelia Center’s Bloom From Within event. The event was held in recognition of Sexual Assault Awareness Month. Visitors to the UA Law table were invited to add a message to our Survivor Support Wall, which will be displayed inside the Camelia Center later this month. Haley, who will receive her MSW degree this year, and Ragan, who will receive her BSW degree, are each completing their experiential degree requirement by working with law students in the Clinical Programs to ensure the non-legal needs of Clinic clients are met.

Members of UA Law’s Domestic Violence Law Clinic participated in the Camelia Center’s Fall Campfire this week in support of domestic violence awareness. 💜 While there the students were treated with an appearance by the best mascot around, BIG AL!!

The UA Law Clinical Programs celebrated with social work intern Kai Ross during her last day with the Clinics on Friday. Kai chose to complete her undergraduate experiential experience with the Clinics during the Fall 2024 semester. During that time she assisted clinic attorneys and UA Law students and provided guidance and support to clients regarding their non-legal needs. Kai is pictured here delivering a prize basket to the winner of the Domestic Violence Law Clinic’s (DVLC) fall raffle. Other pictures show Kai’s poster presentation, Kai and DVLC Interim Director, Beth Crutchfield, participating in the UA SGA’s ‘It’s On Us’ week, and Kai and UA Law Students participating in the UA Women and Gender Resource Center’s Fall Campfire event. Kai will be missed, but all of us at UA Law Clinical Programs want to wish her well in all of her future endeavors!

On August 10, The University of Alabama School of Law Civil Law Clinic students presented oral arguments before the Alabama Court of Civil Appeals in an important case that could affect appellate rights of indigent litigants whose properties are condemned by a city.

The Alabama Court of Civil Appeals grants oral arguments in very few cases--often fewer than a dozen each year.
