Oklahoma Residents: Did you know:

There is an Oklahoma Fair Housing Law? You can find it in the Oklahoma statutes available for free online (www.oscn.net). It states that landlords cannot discriminate against you in the rental, sales, financing, appraisal, insurance of housing and other housing-related transactions based on categories like race, color, national origin, religion, s*x, age, familial status (children living with parents or guardians, pregnant women, and people securing custody of minor children), and disability.

To file a complaint under the state fair housing law, call the Oklahoma Real Estate Commission at (405) 521-3387 or download a housing discrimination complaint form at www.orec.ok.gov.

Ruth is also happy to speak with Oklahoma residents who believe they have suffered housing discrimination. Call Ruth at (918) 609-3217 or check out her website at www.ruthaddisonmartinlaw.com.

BEWARE OF THE REPLY ALL EMAIL

The ABA Issues New Ethics Opinion Warning Attorneys About Potential Waiver of Attorney-Client Privilege.

Many attorneys include their client on e-mail correspondence with the opposing attorney. It is a dangerous practice and can result in waiving the client's right to attorney-client privilege.
