Beginning tomorrow, drivers can be fined for using a cell phone while driving. If the phone is in your hand, then its not "hands-free" and you could get a ticket. Please be safe.

The state’s new hands-free law prohibiting in-hand use of electronic devices while driving went into effect after being signed by Arizona Governor Doug Ducey on April 22, 2019. It immediately made using devices like cell phones in-hand while driving a primary offense.

Crime victims in Arizona have a right to full restitution for economic loss caused by a criminal defendant. Plea agreements between prosecutors and defense attorneys cannot limit the amount of restitution, the Arizona Supreme Court ruled today.

An Indiana jury awarded $14.5 million to a local man and his restoration company in a lawsuit involving State Farm Insurance. The man claimed that after a 2006 hailstorm, State Farm made unfounded claims of fraud and instigated the filing of felony charges against him. The charges were dropped, but he claimed his business was destroyed as a result. The jury agreed, ruling State Farm defamed the man and his business.
