Now we wait…
No matter who you voted for, be kind.
No matter who wins, be kind.
No matter who disagrees with you, be kind.
I don’t know a great deal about politics but what I do know is that many have forgotten that we are the greatest nation in the world. Some have argued, fought and lost friends over politics and ideas. We get to have and voice our varying points of view because of the freedoms we have that many other countries don’t. I feel like we have lost the skill to discuss, debate and listen to each other respectfully especially if someone’s thoughts are not like our own. I feel like we are quick to judge because someone believes in God, carries a gun, had an abortion… pick your debate. At the end of the day you are no better than I and I am no better than you. What we all are is American. I may not agree with you on an issue but I WILL ALWAYS be kind to you.
At the end of the day… respect others, love others, help others, show support, don’t condemn and share a smile. No matter what your political views are the one thing that binds us despite our differences is that we are American. I may not have the same views as you and that’s ok. I will respect you. I will be kind to you. I will not judge you. What would happen if that was the attitude we adopted towards every, single person.
As results roll in throughout the night, despite your anger, fear or frustration, remember to be kind. I for one am proud to be American and truly believe in One Nation Under God. I am blessed that I have the opportunity to have a voice and was able to vote today and I will never take that for granted no matter who wins.
