The U.S. Supreme Court has rejected the automatic use of judicial estoppel to bar legal claims omitted from bankruptcy disclosures.

In Keathley v. Buddy Ayers Construction, Inc., the Court held that judges must consider the full circumstances before deciding whether an omission was intentional or a genuine mistake.

The decision does not excuse incomplete disclosures, but it limits the mechanical dismissal of undisclosed claims.
