There is a new state tax credit for individuals who incurred more than $20,000 in undergraduate student loan debt and have an outstanding balance of at least $5,000. The amount of the credit has to be used to pay down the loan balance. The application has to be submitted by 9/15 to get the credit for 2017. Of course the application just came out. See:
