October 1st launches the 10 year anniversary of the year I lost my best friend of 34 years, then my mom, my dog, my brother and finally my dad. All in a year’s span. The grief was crushing and inescapable. Whenever I faced challenging times, my friend would gently whisper, “Courage, dear heart.” She is always with me. They all are.
I faced an adversary today…a daunting and cut throat foe who I have strategized and lost sleep over…Today, was check-mate! Fear kept me in a perpetual state of strategy. You can’t move forward until you are prepared to risk or surrender. Today was a day of risk! It felt great to choose and direct my course. You can’t grow without risk. Sometimes you just have to take that first step, even knowing it might be a cliff. I came, I saw, I conquered. I will finally sleep peacefully tonight!
