April 15th is the deadline for residential homeowners on a fixed or limited income to apply for the Property Tax Assistance Program (PTAP). Qualifying applicants receive a reduced property tax rate reduction of 30, 50, or 80% on the first $418,000 of their home’s market value. Eligibility for this program is based on home ownership, occupancy requirements, income levels, and marital status.

🏠 Homestead Reduced Tax Rates start in 2026! Deadline Extended – March 20, 2026
Many homeowners are automatically enrolled to receive the Homestead Reduced Tax Rate, including homeowners who received a property tax rebate in 2025 and still own and live in the home for at least 7 months in 2026.
Who must apply:
• Primary Residence Owners who did not claim the 2025 property tax rebate or they changed their primary residence.
• Owners of Long Term Rentals

Application Period:
December 1, 2025 – March 20, 2026

Property Tax Relief for Homeowners

Reduced Property Tax Rate on Principal Residence/Long-term Rental property.
• March 20 is the deadline to apply for the Principal Residence (Homestead) classification. This classification is available to individuals, including purchasers under a contract for deed, grantors of trust indentures, and trustees of grantor revocable trusts.
• March 20 is the deadline to apply for Long-Term Rental classification. This classification is available to entities and individuals who own qualifying rental property, including purchasers under a contract for deed, grantors of trust indentures, trustees of grantor revocable trusts, and businesses that provide employee housing as part of an employee’s compensation.
• Qualifying properties receive a reduced property tax rate that follows a tiered structure:
o 0.76% on the first $378,000 of market value
o 0.90% on the portion between $378,001 and $756,000
o 1.10% on the portion between $756,001 and $1,511,999
o 1.90% on any portion over $1,512,000 or greater
