I am posting this with hesitation, as this is not a page for politics. I am moving forward with it, as it is no way shape a form a post about who you voted for or what policies you support. Negative responses on particular candidates, or rudeness to other members will be removed.
However, now that Congress is on recess, many reps are having townhalls in their home town to answer any questions. This is particularly important at this time, as while everyone supports reducing fraud, current and potentially future DOGE cuts have and may continue to disproportionately impact all Seniors, and in particular the brave Veterans who have served our country.
Unfortunately, our Rep, Chris Smith, so far has NO SUCH PLANS. Whatever you support, please call Mr. Smith and ask him to have a town hall to express your concerns, questions, or support.

They will ask your name, you DO NOT have to give it. Tell them you are in a 55+ community is zip 08757.
Some concerns:
1) The Federal Government is the biggest employer of veterans. In fact, about THRITY PERCENT of fed workers are vets, many disabled who may have difficulty seeking employment elsewhere. Cuts at VA hospitals will results in less services, longer wait times, etc.
2) Many Seniors rely on meals on wheels. They announced potential cuts to the grants that makes this service possible

3) The proposed cuts to Medicare and Medicaid can have devastating consequences for seniors on palliative care, in nursing homes and receiving other kind of assistance.
Again, even if you support all these cuts, are Rep owes us an in person town hall while on recess in congress. He should be hearing what his constituents support and don't so he can property represent us in Washington
Thank you
