🚨 URGENT: Our community’s right to legal defense is under a massive threat. The City of Toledo has proposed a staggering 73% budget cut to the Right to Counsel project, a move that would strip $183,000 from a program that has been a lifeline for the last four years. We're fighting to bridge this gap so this program can survive. As a nonprofit, LAWO provides free legal services, covering everything from eviction defense and utility shut-offs to family law. Follow us, share this reel, and let's work together to keep Right to Counsel alive.

Last year, Toledo saw nearly 6,000 eviction cases. Through Right to Counsel (RTC), LAWO was able to help 252 tenants facing eviction, including survivors of domestic violence, families with children, and people at risk of losing housing through no fault of their own. Having an attorney can mean the difference between staying housed and losing a home.

As the City of Toledo's budget is finalized, there is still time to protect this program and the stability it provides to our community. Eviction doesn’t just impact one person. It affects families, schools, jobs, and neighborhoods.

Thank you to 13ABC for shining a light on the real consequences of losing access to legal representation in housing court by interviewing our RTC advocates and recent client.
